The Crystal Balconies of Arelith Empty The Crystal Balconies of Arelith

The residential district of the Order. While the Marksmen lodge at Serene Sunset, the Orders lesser active denizens reside here. A cherry blossom escape, complimenting paved roads of firebrick cobblestone. Large housings with uniquely trimmed crystalline terraces, all growing into the city named after the Orders founder, the Great King Solmodus.

"To the glory and majesty of Arelith. Of it's people, pure and true. And of it's Marksmen, tenacious and serving." would be the initial statement from a seemingly indifferent pair of lips. They parted in speech to mouth every word, from atop staged podium, in the heart of the plaza, "A time ago, one that only the pen may forget. A time cast into the threshold of our memories, eternally engraved upon the backs of our valiant men and women. It breathes in hue of an age where four pairs of steps were awarded a single virgin land. Whence horsemen of justice and valor came across the very heart of the world." ears would perk, eyes would not leave their destination. Fixated upon the sight of the head of the Order,

"I too know of a time. Of that very time, where my core was also etched within the history of our birth. When that house was a stone, when that shop was but a tree. When the very temple itself was promised, just through the song of a single string of grass." two obsidian gauntlets would rise, as firm ruby gemstones shimmered through the audience. A motion that allowed the light of the heavens to cascade unto the crowd. Deep crowd. An army of people, all making up the nation of Arelith. They filled every alley and cut in the streets. Millions to the calculative retina.

"It was the very Gods that rid the world of this once sin. Of a sin that til this day is oh so very much alive. At the stoops of our empire. Of your empire. It is a cunning creature, this sin. It snakes, and stakes, and waits with infinite diligence, as to when the walls of our Order will crumble beneath the sun of dusks. And I prithee, the very flora that find decor amongst our streets. The beautifications. The waters, the foods, the linens and silks. The children from which are proud to run along these very cobblestones. The architecture of a wonderful haven." his hood was off, an enchanted brush of determination stroked his face. The Empyreal wrapped digits around the curving borders of the speaking craft.

"Together, as one people of our multicultural strength. We can work to keep this land united. This nation. These homes. The chimenies that stretch out to grasp the clouds as humbled dinners partake beneath their abodes. It is forever led by the people. For Arelith with me alone will cease to be anything at all. We are the very fuel from which our empire thrives and prospers. We are that tree, and that stone, and that grass." a few began clapping as his voice would stream higher. More passionate, "And so I rejoice with my brethren. The very ones whom's fathers and mothers I've seen die at my hands for the very flourished might of the Order." a slam by both fists would hit the wooden surface, "Under Star and Sky, Arelith! We are The Order of Shadows!"

The words had echoed across the plaza and the surrounding areas, the voice carrying so well over the mass of people gathered there to hear the man speak his mind. The words were not honeyed or false, they had true power to them. In the mind of the man standing beside the fountain, writing furiously in a small notebook, what he had just heard was nothing short of inspirational. This majestic man, this near-deity, was the people's guardian, their leader, their patron, their king, and their savior. Lord Devilin Domitrix Exodus was the central figure in Arelith, and today, he spoke his heart out. Murmuring the reply, "Under Star and Sky, blessed be the guardians, the Order of Shadows," the young man stood and began to make his way to the study to pour over the notes. Placing his pen in his ear he tucked the notebook under his arm and weaved through the dispersing throng. There were murmurs all around about the words spoken, but all he could do was go over them in exact verbatim, from time to time having to refer to his notes.

"Yes, the people here are the very power of the land. As a collective they carry the pride of this land by themselves, and that pride extends to the Magistrate. The Magistrate, for the majority does not believe themselves to be above those around them, but do accept that the positions they have earned and hold have a heavy weight to them. They too feel pride for this land and hold it dear." Turning the street corner, stepping to the side of a small crowd rounding the corner as he came around, he had to stop and grab his pen and begin to write more. "Of course, I haven't had the opportunity to meet them, but the people are very talkative about their pride, and they have humility enough to indulge that their greatest pride is the majestic guardians." Standing back up he quickened his steps, adjusting his glasses as the bounding steps made them slide down slightly.

Nicholas had not been in the city very long but had wasted no time learning about the place he was deigning to call home and it's peoples. He very much wanted to meet these peoples of power but understood that power and responsibility sometimes made a person difficult to catch and would just have to quickly bide his time. Once he reached the building he pushed his way inside. On his way to the study he stopped and turned, his nose having caught a whiff of the food within the tavern and he had to make a split decision. Unfortunately, work won out over food so he turned into the study, so he could make a full report with the notes he had taken.

In the presence of a once and finally conquered equilibrium, the gathering of Arelithians would catapult their hands into the ambient, complimenting a deeply powerful uproar of applaud and cheers. The men and women, the Marksmen, the children. Every family within a nation that seeks to be distraught by the outside evils, have awaited for words of reassurance long enough. The counsel by the demon was an utmost necessity. Well after the invasion of the Riest and the defection of the Chancellor, and not a moment too late.

With this, the Empyreal would rise his arms in unison with the crowd. The Baron, the Portmaster, and the other figureheads of the nation, would take a stand from their seats behind the podiumed male, "It is of this light, one that has not been the same tint as the others before. But alas, it is light nonetheless. And it will grant us our freedom, if we manage to harness it. It's harness becomes our unity." nodded off the obsidian hooded visage, stepping at the rear, away from the woodcraft. White Lotus alligned immediately, as He walked down the steps of the stage.

His descent was as symbollic as it was literal. To return at the side of the level by the people. To walk amongst the one's whom learned to cherish him and love him. Mont Crisa and a few of the orphans were there in the melting pot. Elf and dwarf, salesman and Marksman alike. They all walked alongside the demon as he would address an eruption of conversation between the people of the Order. The steps were taken all throughout the plaza, as thousands huddled about. Some would thank him, others merely wanted to be in his company. Hands were shaken, and embraces were given. All beneath the Arelithian sun.

And so indeed came swift, the awaited evening. The setting sun fell to rest, as if to record the events of the day and whisper them across the ears of angels. The plaza had been emptied at some time sooner, the denizens and citizens alike, all made their way back to their homes. It was a day where the word 'morale' would be as if cherished across the murals of the outer walls beneath the Magistral turrets. Of course, there would be those that did not come, of the Marksmen and people. But for the ones that did, shared stories would be tossed into the cauldron of Arelith's bustly ambient. Veterans and retirees had paid a visit as well, to listen to the words. And those on active duty, under contract of a parchmented Mark Hunt, sought the speech of inspiration.

Before the epilogue of words were spread as sheet upon bed by the once altared demon, further talk of the Gravi-cycles and such was covered. The introduction and mass production accouncements. The rise of foreign contracts to hire the Marksmen in what the Order did best. Gold handed out, directly from the vault of Arelith, and unto the palms of the lowest of the three social classes. Along with the covering of multiple topics of interest, including the seldom rebellion that some would fear due to the recently drastic actions.

All in all, it went was well a day as any could have wished for. Neighbors inviting one another to each others' houses for dinner. The new generation, the kids of the Arelithian nation, meeting and playing with one another below the streelights. Prayers for the Marksmen on active duty, away from the confined haven of the empire. It was much better than one could have expected. And so the quill would sign off the final consonant of this saga's thoughts. Only to listen attentively at the harmonic pace of twin onyx heeled greaves, as they were escorted to the tower of the Order's vanguard. Steps that spoke of thousands of tales, as an estelle of obsidian spoke esoterically; about the same hand and fist, grasping untensil, and analyzing the new Mark Hunts awaiting at the Magistrate of Shadows.

The world continued it's revolution. The monsters birthed day by day. And the Marksmen, at the peak of the spear point. Into the heart of the battle, and honored by the pages of Fates.

"Nothing short of enlightening. Oh. That reminds me: WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE ANYWAY?" a slightly tanned male ranted, scratching his crimson-stained raven spikes in sheer annoyance. Not earning a reply, he sighed, lacing his fingers together and setting it behind his head. When the one you are talking to was just smoking vanilla cream cigarettes non-stop and not paying attention to you, who would not be ticked off? The two just got away from Tel-Arelith Nora Market after buying some vanilla cigarettes that the pale raven fancied so much. They did not quite expect getting a few hints about a certain pinkhead that they were chasing. "Hey, I don't fare well when I'm subjected to such cold treatment, Ryui-chan..." the man trailed off as he closed his eyes, resting his back on the wall.

"I'm just thinking," the other male spoke. "And that's Sakuraba for you, bastard." The pseudo-twins were not so far away from the location where the Lord gave his speech, currently hanging around on a nearly empty street now that the spectators earlier had dispersed. A wisp of vanilla-laced smoke wafted lazily around him and his Other, his vision foggy. Not that he cared much about it as of the moment.

Charon, on the other hand, was a little agitated. His Other was usually composed, his demeanor cool and his tongue sharp. Now, he was the polar opposite - detrimental to their mission, and not to mention potentially lethal once they slipped up. He needed to change that.

"Ouch! Those sweet words woundeth me to an eternal slumber! Thee must've not loveth me, Charon, thy flesh and thy blood?" the tanned male exclaimed dramatically, then fetching his Other's long ponytail and nuzzling it to his face.

It was the other male's turn to scratch his head. He snapped, minus its usually venomous, condescending intensity. "Tch. Quit it. I'm just-"

"Thinking. Yeah. Thinking my @ss. Amano is the bastard, not me. Don't go moping on shoulda-woulda-coulda's since you can't change the past, Ryui-chan." He really did not like his Other shifting moods so swiftly. Now, it was low tide, and this is one hell of a very disturbed Sakuraba Ryuichiro.

"Ne, Charon... That bastard bubblegum just passed here, right?" he trailed off, sucking a long drag soon after. Light played fleeting patterns past the smoke until it thinned out. "He just can't run away from me forever. You think-"

"Yeah. We can still catch him. After all, your Maya-neesan told you that you'll 'gravitate towards each other' and all that jazz so why don'tcha believe her for the time being?" Charon cut him yet again. 'Seriously, I hate this schoolboy type Ryui-chan.' He wanted to rant some more when he heard - was that a chuckle?

"I thought you'd say 'and all that sh!t' knowing you've gained a potty mouth just recently," Sakuraba muttered faintly, mood changing from brooding to easygoing. Charon much preferred the latter by the way. He took another drag and pulled his ponytail from its captor, his exposed eye slightly gleaming with mirth.

"We're the same person after all, so I'm such a foul-mouthed guy as yourself. Hey, from whom will I learn these aside from you?" Charon jovially replied, his boredom slipping away. Not wanting to let the other raven to have a relapse, he stretched before walking past Sakuraba. "Hmmm. Maybe a nice warm bath would be great. You need to relax for we'll never know when will we have this luxury of time again. You know, Magistress' orders."

"I know." The cigarette butt hit the cobblestones in a flick of a finger. "Thanks Charon. What am I going to do without you around?"

Footsteps merged with the street noises, the day becoming bright, even just a little bit. The two paced towards the Serene Sunset Tavern when -

    "Awww... Why can't I?"

    "Just shut the hell up!"

    "We do that most of-"

    "YOU! You almost-"

"I did not know you were quite sensi-"

    "Shut up."

    "I could scr-"

    "Scrub my @ss."

"I was planning to do that, actually."

    "..."

    "Silence means yes, Ryui-chan."

    "...ma...l..."

"I didn't catch that. Pardon me?"

    "...dematerialize. Now."

    "Eh?"

    "You heard me."

    "You're not serious, are you?"

    "Now."

    "Alright, alright! I submit..."

Charon disintegrated into shards of Sakuraba's unconscious, the bits and pieces fading in thin air. Before the silhouette disappeared, his Other winked and muttered something about flexibility and back rubs, much to the cherry raven's embarrassment.

Apparently, a number of pedestrians were tuned in to their little program.
